On the group's two Polyvinyl Records releases, 1998's limited edition 7" and the following year's The Great Communicators, the Interpreters, the Nonbelievers EP, Aloha incorporates jazz and post-rock elements with personal, emotional songwriting, which is mirrored in their intense, often makeshift live performances. That's Your Fire marked the band's first base uncut album. Released in 2000, That's Your Fire was welcomed by critics and indie furor favorites. Two days afterwards, Aloha delved into a heavier soundscape for Pelf. Some Echoes followed in 2006.

It isn't often that a member leaves ane conventional rock stria and finds major succeeder with another roleplay immediately later, merely guitar player Brad Gillis is one of the few to reach this effort. Raised in San Francisco, Gillis coupled Bay Area funk rockers Rubicon in the late '70s, issuing a geminate of hidden albums, 1978's self-titled debut and 1980's American Dreams, earlier disbanding. Gillis distinct to team up with deuce of his former Rubicon bandmates, singer/bassist Jack Blades and singer/drummer Kelly Keagy, to strain a more hard rock-based kit, Night Ranger. But earlier the new grouping (which also included second guitarist Jeff Watson and keyboardist Alan Fitzgerald) could ink a parcel out, Gillis was offered to join Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1982, in the wake up of Randy Rhoads' tragic death. Gillis quickly recognized, touring the existence with the Oz, and even appearing on the live typeset Speak of the Devil (which was comprised whole of Black Sabbath material).

Simply when Osbourne asked Gillis if he'd like to be a full-time appendage, he opted to return back to his older pals in Night Ranger. Gillis' brief exposure in the public eye helped Night Ranger ink a parcel out with the MCA underling Camel, world Health Organization issued the group's debut, Dawn Patrol, the same year. The song "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" standard strong airplay on MTV, which pushed the album into the Top 40. Night Ranger more than delivered on their next release, 1983's Midnight Madness, as they softened their sound somewhat and enjoyed multi-platinum success with such hit singles/videos "Sister Christian" and "When You Close Your Eyes." Gillis too found the time to contribute a smoldering solo to the song "Stars" by Ronnie James Dio's star-studded Hear N' Aid project, which embossed money to fight starvation in Ethiopia. Night Ranger's victorious streak continued with 1985's 7 Wishes (which spawned another strike with the melodic rocker "Sentimental Street"), simply by 1987's Big Life, the hits had dried up, and the band split shortly thereafter.

Gillis then formed the fugacious mathematical group Mega-Mega, world Health Organization aside from conducive a song to the gesture photograph soundtrack for Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, didn't stick round long enough to acquittance whatever albums. 1993 saw the release of Gillis' first solo record album, Gilrock Ranch, which featured the caterpillar track "Honest to God," co-written and song by Mr. Gregg Allman. Gillis and so distinct to raise the Night Ranger name (although he and Keagy were the only remaining original members in attendance), cathartic the album Feeding Off the Mojo in 1995, earlier the original Night Ranger card reconvened and issued the albums Neverland (1997) and Seven (1998). 2000 saw the release of Gillis' second solo release overall, Alligator.

Godard Cancels Israeli Festival Appearance After Boycott Request

French filmmaker Jean-luc Godard has withdrawn from a film festival in Israel, after a Palestinian group asked him to boycott the country. The director was due to attend the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival, but backed out citing "circumstances beyond his control", according to organisers. The move follows an open letter to Godard issued last week (ends30May08) by the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. It asked him to "take a courageous stand and cancel your trip to Israel. Did you ever go to an Afrikaner film festival in apartheid South Africa? Why Israel then?" Godard has refused to confirm a link between the letter and his withdrawal.

Vietnam veteran Jeffrey LaBeouf spends his summers living in a teepee in Montana and his winters staying with his movie star son - but this year (08) the actor's father has yet to move on.

And the Transformers star admits he can't bring himself to kick his dad out.

LaBeouf, 21, says, "We've got this little air mattress set up for him. It's very comfortable.

"But now it's not winter anymore and he's still there. But I can't go there and go, `Hey dad. Listen it's time to go back.' I can't make him leave."

The Game - The Game Lloyd Banks Will Be Next To Leave G-unit

Rapper THE GAME is predicting another member of G-UNIT will be fired - and he is convinced LLOYD BANKS will be next.

The Dreams hitmaker was the first to be booted from 50 Cent's group in 2005, and Young Buck followed in April this year (08), after falling out with the superstar over royalty payments.

The Game - real name Jayceon Taylor - claims he forsaw Young Buck's departure from the crew "like four years, three years" ago, and he's now putting his money on 50's cohort Banks being ditched.

Speaking on New York radio station Hot 97, he says, "After that (Buck leaving), it's Banks, but I don't think that (G-Unit co-founder Tony) Yayo will ever break they (sic) thing because they got they (sic) real boo lovin' thing down. Banks is going to be next, man."

And The Game blames 50 Cent's lack of leadership qualities for the line-up changes - advising him to look to legendary rapper/producer and Aftermath Records founder Dr. Dre for tips.

He adds, "50 needs to change his ways. Until then, you gonna see his empire dismantle itself.

"It's like a totem pole. Dre worked with Pac (Tupac Shakur), then he found Snoop (Dogg). ...Dre found Snoop, and let Snoop blow up. Look at Snoop today, Dre never stopped Snoop from blowing up. Dre had helped Snoop, and it was in good business. Then Dre found a white boy from Detroit, and he came in... Dre gave Eminem the chance to blow and they never stopped. Then they gave it to 50, and let him blow. 50 didn't pass the baton like that man. ... (50 Cent) wanted everybody to be soldiers forever, forever, forever, forever... and grow old... That will never hold up."

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Red Hot Chili Peppers Take A Year Off

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS have split - for now.

Frontman Anthony Kiedis has confirmed the rockers have disbanded after the recording of their last album Stadium Arcadium and the tour that followed became a "gruelling, long haul".

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "We didn't really stop until the tour ended last year. We were all emotionally and mentally zapped at the end of that run.

"Cooler heads prevailed and the discussion at the end of our last tour was, 'Let's not do anything Red Hot Chili Peppers related for a minimum of one year, and just live and breathe and eat and learn new things.'"

And the break came at the perfect time for the band: "I was about to have a brand new son. Flea is very inspired to re-up his musical direction and ability and skill and he wants to learn new stuff. John (Frusciante) has been firing away on his own, making different solo projects.

"And Chad (Smith) joined a jazz band and went to Japan. I'm just home, hanging out with this really cool little kid, learning how to surf."

A: "Sometimes you are like -- worst case scenario: what other skills do I have? And I always think I'm good at listening to people. I could be a therapist ... I could be a life coach. I'm good at telling people what to do. I really enjoy that immensely."

Q: Are you like that in your own life, too?
